The main thing of book fair is not sell but display of books on different subjects.
It is organized by various institutions on various occasions, namely victory day, independence day etc.
This year, I paid and visit to the Ekushey Boi Mela, the most popular book fair held in the premises of Bangla Academy.
My personal impression about a books fair is that it can play an important role in developing the habit of reading books among the people.
Artists also sketch visitors on the spot for a fee.
There are a good number of food stalls selling a variety of food items.
A visitor to the book fair entered by the gate to the first sector went around the stalls in the said sector, and then he went to the second sector to have a view of it.
Both the sectors were connected with a decorated gate. The stalls in each sector were decorated beautifully. Many of the publishers of Orissa and a number of publishing houses from all over the country took part in the book fair.
